Hooks has won three straight games at home, while Sulphur Springs has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Hooks Hornets will welcome the Sulphur Springs Wildcats at 8:30 a.m. Hooks is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Hooks barely beat North Lamar the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Hooks' way against North Lamar on Friday as Hooks made off with a 14-3 victory. Considering the Hornets have won four games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Darla Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last eight contests.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zoey Greenwood, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Lewis, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, while it was Sulphur Springs who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Hughes Springs who put up more. Sulphur Springs fell just short of Hughes Springs by a score of 6-4. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly two runs.
Hannah Speed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Brailie Blevins and Shaelee Friddle did some serious damage despite the final result: Blevins scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Friddle went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Emily Adamson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Hooks has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. Sulphur Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hooks hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .378. However, it's not like Sulphur Springs struggles in that department as they've averaged .370. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
