Miller is 8-2 against Corpus Christi Moody since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Miller Buccaneers will be home for the holidays to greet the Corpus Christi Moody Trojans at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Miller has six straight victories, Corpus Christi Moody has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Miller was able to grind out a solid win over King, taking the game 47-39.
Miller's success was spearheaded by the efforts of George Simmons, who scored 15 points, and Corey Holmes, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Holmes has scored at least 25% of Miller's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Zamora, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-46, which was the final score in Corpus Christi Moody's tilt against Rockport-Fulton on Monday. While losing is never fun, Corpus Christi Moody can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1424th, while Rockport-Fulton is ranked 598th).
Miller pushed their record up to 9-6 with that victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Corpus Christi Moody, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.
Miller beat Corpus Christi Moody 75-66 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Will Miller repeat their success, or does Corpus Christi Moody have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
