After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Classical, the Solomon Gorillas were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took down Little River 59-42. For Solomon, this counts as revenge for the 62-23 defeat the Redskins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Solomon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Spencer Coup out in front who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Duran, who scored 18 points.
Several Redskins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blayne Baldetti, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Baldetti posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Logan Renken, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Little River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Solomon only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Solomon is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Little River, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Solomon will head out on the road to challenge the Heat on Friday. Rural Vista [Hope/White City] is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Little River, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Bluebirds at 2:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Goessel is ranked 231st, while the Redskins are ranked 251st).
