Cupertino is 8-1 against Lynbrook since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cupertino Pioneers will head out on the road to take on the Lynbrook Vikings at 7:45 p.m. Cupertino is coming into the game hot, having won their last 12 games.
Last Thursday, Cupertino's game was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They secured a 53-47 W over Monta Vista. Given Cupertino's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Monta Vista is ranked 672nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cupertino can attribute much of their success to Soham Nighojkar, who scored 17 points along with two steals and two blocks, and Max Feldan, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Feldan hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Max Lin was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Lynbrook strolled past Monta Vista with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 53-39.
Cupertino's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Lynbrook, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Cupertino against Lynbrook when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 64-32 victory. With Cupertino ahead 37-11 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
