After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rice, the Dawson Bulldogs were happy to have found some success on Friday. They took down Axtell 43-27. For Dawson, this counts as revenge for the 46-24 loss Axtell walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dawson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Callie Marberry, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Josie Oakes was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Dawson's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Axtell, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Mart the next time they take the court. Dawson will host Mart at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, while Axtell will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
