Edon hasn't had much luck against Hilltop recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bombers are taking a road trip to face off against the Cadets at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Edon turned things around against North Central on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-5 win. With that victory, the Bombers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Alexis Breier was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Breier was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Edon got a massive performance out of Avery Aldrich, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Aldrich a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amanda Schwartz, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Edon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Hilltop never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Gorham Fayette as they made off with a 19-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cadets, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like Edon, Hilltop also got a great game from a two-way player: Kelsy Connolly. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Connolly has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Kenley Routt was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with five runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Sophia Crossgrove was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two triples and three runs.
Edon's record now sits at 5-9. As for Hilltop, their record is now 11-2.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Edon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Hilltop struggles in that department as they've averaged .501. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Edon might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Hilltop when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Bombers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
