It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Foothills Christian Knights had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 29-8 margin over Coastal Academy. The result was nothing new for Foothills Christian, who have now won five matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Foothills Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Hernandez, who rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Hernandez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Kameron Brown was another key contributor, rushing for 146 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Coastal Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nolan White, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown, and Judah Jaggers who picked up 102 receiving yards.
The victory (which was Foothills Christian's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.3 points per game. As for Coastal Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Foothills Christian will take on St. Joseph Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Joseph Academy is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Coastal Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
