1A District 7 recap September 4, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Alex Wilkens and Al Barber connected against Santa Fe. The longest such play in 1A District 7 this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
Keith Neal of Williston ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against P.K. Yonge last week. Neal's team bested the Blue Wave as he sprinted for 68 yards on the play and finished with 125 in all.
Newberry's dynamic duo of Wilkens and Barber proved tough for the Raiders to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wilkens threw for 191 yards and 2 touchdowns and Barber had 80 yards receiving. Monte Seabrook helped Newberry's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 80 yards.
The Panthers' dynamic duo of Wilkens and Barber proved to be unstoppable against Santa Fe, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Barber was the best receiver in the league this week as Newberry defeated Bill Wiles' team.
Alphonso Timmons was the best running back in 1A District 7 this week. He ran for 158 yards on 7 carries as Chiefland topped the Raiders.
He was 6-13 with 0 interceptions.

Dixie County moved up to 133 from 200 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bears were able to make move up by besting Taylor County 22-7.
