The Turlock Bulldogs and the Hughson Huskies will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Turlock will be strutting in after a win while Hughson will be coming in after a loss.
Turlock will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Thursday, then bounced right back against Golden Valley on Monday. Turlock came out on top against Golden Valley by a score of 10-5.
Audrey Bailey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karley Wool, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaysee Rubio, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Hughson fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Ripon on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 4-3. The Huskies' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Like Turlock, Hughson also got a great game from a two-way player: Emma Carne. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 7.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off 12 hits (and not a single walk). Carne was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Presley Wells made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Grace Leedom was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one triple and one run.
Turlock's record now sits at 4-11. As for Hughson, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-5-1.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Turlock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Hughson struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Turlock might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Hughson when the teams last played back in February. Can Turlock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
