The East Central Trojans will square off against the Rising Sun Shiners at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as East Central comes in on three and Rising Sun on 15.
East Central barely beat Franklin County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans blew past the Wildcats 16-4 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by exactly 12 runs.
Rose Yunger spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Broegan Knuz was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Donawerth, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
East Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin County only posted an OBP of .320.
Meanwhile, Rising Sun got the win against Jac-Cen-Del on Wednesday by a conclusive 14-5. The Shiners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.
J'Lynn Rodriguez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs.
In other batting news, Rising Sun got a massive performance out of Mataya Walker, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Tamryn Miller was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Rising Sun pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for East Central, their record is now 16-6.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Rising Sun struggles in that department as they've averaged .413. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Rising Sun in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
