The Meadow Bridge Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-60 victory over Pocahontas County. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Meadow Bridge as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Pocahontas County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wyatt Hendrick, who scored 15 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hendrick scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Dillon Dunz, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and four blocks.
Meadow Bridge's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Pocahontas County, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
Meadow Bridge will take on Mount View at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Mount View is ranked 102nd, while Meadow Bridge is ranked 116th). As for Pocahontas County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against James Monroe at 7:00 p.m. James Monroe knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Pocahontas County likes a good challenge.
