The Galt Warriors will face off against the Argonaut Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Galt didn't have quite enough to beat Amador and fell 6-5. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Buffaloes recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Lexi Maldonado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Galt saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evianna Barrera, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Argonaut, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let Bradshaw Christian get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Mustangs have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Hailey Dewald's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Bri Bowers was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Karissa Carney, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Argonaut has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Galt, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Galt has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Argonaut struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Galt couldn't quite get it done against Argonaut in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
