Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Cibola

Cibola's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They skirted past the Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won five in a row.

Gabrielle Moncada was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Cibola let Presley Peek-Ruscetti and Vanessa Romero run wild. Peek-Ruscetti scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Romero went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those three hits gave Peek-Ruscetti a new career-high.

Cibola kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atrisco Heritage Academy only managed three hits.

Cibola pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-4.

Cibola has already played their next match, a 4-3 win against Robertson on the 29th. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-6 victory against Bloomfield on the 29th.
