Football Game Preview: Magee Trojans vs. Jefferson Davis County Jaguars

For the first time this season, Magee will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to square off against the Jefferson Davis County Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Magee's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.

Jefferson Davis County better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Magee's game on Friday is any indication, that's when Magee really gets things going. The Trojans blew past Franklin County 46-20. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Trojans just coasted through the last quarter.

It was another big night for Tyler Walker, who rushed for 118 yards and three scores on only seven carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 112 rushing yards. Travon Magee was another key player, throwing for 221 yards and three TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Magee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 210 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 206 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Jefferson Davis County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 28-22 W over East Marion. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Jaguars were the better team in the second half.

Magee's record is now 4-1. As for Jefferson Davis County, their record now sits at 2-3.

Magee came out on top in a nail-biter against Jefferson Davis County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, sneaking past 35-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
