Baseball Game Preview: Morrison Mustangs vs. Amboy Clippers

For the second straight game, Morrison will face off against Amboy. The Mustangs will challenge the Clippers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Morrison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Morrison needed a bit of extra time to put away Amboy. They walked away with a 14-10 win over the Clippers. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Kaleb Schroeder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Collin Renkes was a standout: he went 3-for-6 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Morrison: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Noah Robbins was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Morrison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Morrison has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Amboy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

Amboy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Morrison hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312.
