Basketball Game Preview: Bandys Trojans vs. Newton-Conover Red Devils

Bandys hasn't had much luck against Newton-Conover recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bandys Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Newton-Conover Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bandys is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Lincolnton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Bandys blew Lincolnton out of the water with a 70-26 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Trojans had established a 31 point advantage.

Lexi Vaughan was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Gault, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 16 points.

Bandys smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Newton-Conover over West Lincoln in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Newton-Conover blew West Lincoln out of the water with a 72-15 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-11.

Bandys has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Newton-Conover, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Bandys strolled past Newton-Conover in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 47-30. Does Bandys have another victory up their sleeve, or will Newton-Conover turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
