Jax Wanner was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. South Adams is 2-1 when Wanner posts three or more hits, but 3-16 otherwise. Luke Bauman was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI.
Eastbrook let Hamilton Heights stack four runs on them in the sixth inning on Saturday but luckily Eastbrook prevailed anyway. The Panthers walked away with an 8-5 win over the Huskies. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Jacob McDermit and Kyler Hackman made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, McDermit pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Hackman tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave McDermit a new career-high in strikeouts (five). At the plate, McDermit got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Hackman went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Austin Mikel, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Gipson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Eastbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
South Adams' loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Eastbrook, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Adams has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eastbrook struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
