The St. Henry Redskins entered their tilt with the New Bremen Cardinals with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. St. Henry skirted past New Bremen 67-64. Given St. Henry's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while New Bremen is ranked 410th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Henry had a senior duo take command as Evan Bowers scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and Luke Beyke scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Bowers hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Boeckman, who scored six points along with four steals.
St. Henry pushed their record up to 11-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for New Bremen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Henry won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wapakoneta at 6:30 p.m. on January 27th. As for New Bremen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Knoxville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
