Westview is a perfect 3-0 against Benson since September of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wolverines will host the Bunnies. Westview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Westview's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Buena Vista 14-0. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Bison recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Pyper Stortz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in October of 2024.
In other batting news, Westview let Elke Martin and Ginny Holtorf run wild. Martin went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Holtorf went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Holtorf has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadence Bosan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Westview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are 11-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Benson hadn't done well against Burke recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bunnies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Bulldogs.
Westview's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Benson, their win bumped their record up to 8-17.
Everything went Westview's way against Benson in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Westview made off with a 14-0 victory. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bunnies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
