WPIAL AAAA Foothills recap October 1, 2013
Connellsville scaled the state rankings by moving to 296 from 358 this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL AAAA Foothills. The Falcons were able to move up by topping Norwin 40-14.
McKeesport added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Altoona, 34-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Chad Kuhn threw for 154 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 10-19 with 2 interceptions.
Shane Kuhn was the best wideout in the league this week as Kiski Area lost to Pine-Richland. Kuhn tallied 3 receptions for 92 yards. Billy Johnson helped Kiski Area's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 32 yards.
Leading WPIAL AAAA Foothills in both passing and receiving yards, the Cavaliers' Kuhn and Joe Brungo have proven to be a lethal combination. Kuhn has thrown for 491 yards this season, while Brungo, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 16 catches for 164 yards. Joey DeFloria from Hempfield Area leads the league in rushing with 797 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when McKeesport takes on Greater Latrobe. George Smith's team is in first place, while the Wildcats are in seventh place.
Kiski Area lost to the Rams 56-28 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kuhn ran for 95 yards in the defeat.
