The Braymer Bobcats pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wellington-Napoleon. Braymer has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Braymer saw an underclassman step up: Dakota Brandon scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jordan Haley, who scored 16 points along with six steals.
Even though they lost, Braymer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wellington-Napoleon only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Trotter Hughes was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-7 from deep and dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds for Wellington-Napoleon. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Blystone, who scored 14 points.
Braymer's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Braymer will take on Keytesville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crest Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Crest Ridge is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
