Greenville came tearing into Monday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Carlinville Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Greenville pushed their record up to 21-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Carlinville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
