The Valparaiso Vikings entered their tilt with the Whiting Oilers with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Valparaiso blew past Whiting 62-22 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-9.
Lillian Barnes was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that she posted eight or more assists. Becca Gerdt was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Valparaiso's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.33 points. As for Whiting, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valparaiso will be home for the holidays to greet Chesterton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chesterton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Whiting, they will be playing at home against Calumet New Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Calumet New Tech comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
