Turners Falls is ten games into its season, but it hasn't met anyone harder than the team challenging it next. It and Greenfield take on one another this Thursday at 10:30 AM on Turners Falls's home turf. Turners Falls is currently on a four-game winning streak and looking to extend its dominance.
Turners Falls narrowly escaped with a win two weeks ago as it sidled past Pioneer Valley Regional 18 - 16. Senior John Driscoll was a big part of the win as his strong performance led the charge (he ran for 126 yards and also punched in one touchdown). Driscoll was also an imposing presence on the defensive end with 16 tackles.
As for Greenfield, after flying high the game before (34 points), it faltered in its previous match. There's no need to mince words: it lost to Brookfield Central four weeks ago, and it lost bad. The score wound up at 51 - 7. The blowout was painful but not necessarily a surprise as Brookfield Central is ranked 4th in the MaxPreps state rankings, many places higher than Greenfield.
Greenfield's defeat dropped it to 5-6 while Turners Falls's win brought it to 6-4. We'll see if Turners Falls can add another positive mark to its record or if Greenfield can shake off its loss and take the spring out of Turners Falls's step.
