The Avon Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 72-49 loss at the hands of Gregory. Avon has struggled against Gregory recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Gregory got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cruz Klundt out in front who scored 17 points along with five steals. Klundt is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Bearshield, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
Avon dropped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Gregory, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Avon will be playing at home against Freeman at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Freeman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Monday. As for Gregory, they will head out on the road to square off against Jones County at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Gregory has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 335 points over their last five contests.
