The Grace Academy Lions fought the good fight in their overtime match against the South Charlotte T Thunder on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Thunder 51-47. Grace Academy found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 11 fewer assists than your opponent.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Miller, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kalista Pressley, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
South Charlotte T got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bella Aitchison out in front who scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. It was the first time this season that Aitchison scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Reeves, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Grace Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11. As for South Charlotte T, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Academy will challenge the at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Charlotte T, they will head out on the road to take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Covenant Classical is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
