Basketball Recap: Bishop Machebeuf Takes a Loss

Bishop Machebeuf lost against Heritage Christian back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes had to suffer through a 68-39 loss at the hands of the Heritage Christian Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Eagles are ranked 70th).

Several Buffaloes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aubrey Cichos, who posted seven points and six rebounds. What's more, Cichos also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Penelope Mikita was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, Bishop Machebeuf smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Bishop Machebeuf's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Heritage Christian, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Coming up, Bishop Machebeuf will head out to challenge Belleview Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Machebeuf is facing Belleview Christian at the right time seeing as Belleview Christian is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Heritage Christian, they will be playing at home against Loveland Classical at 6:30 p.m. on February 13th.
