Baseball Recap: Stafford's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Stafford entered their tilt with La Marque on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Cougars. Considering the Spartans have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Maxwell Frels made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Josh Myers looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Zachary Brown and Greyson Frels did most of the damage at the plate: Brown scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Frels scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Frels also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Zachary Reichling, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Stafford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Stafford's record now sits at 10-4. As for La Marque, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Stafford will welcome Almeta Crawford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for La Marque, they are taking a road trip to take on Fort Bend Willowridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. La Marque is facing Fort Bend Willowridge at the right time seeing as Fort Bend Willowridge is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
