Columbia and Sealy are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2016, but not for long. The Roughnecks will challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbia is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
Columbia is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Shepherd by a score of 35-24. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Roughnecks were down 24-7 in the second quarter.

Cade Thoe continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 137 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 177 yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in September. A healthy portion of Thoe's aerial production (95 yards to be exact) went to Mudassir Abdullah, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Columbia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 235 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 228 rushing yards in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Sealy over Gatesville in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Tigers blew the Hornets out of the water with a 37-6 final score. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Hornets are ranked 236th).
Columbia better keep an eye on Kane Killough. He was instrumental in Sealy's win, rushing for 113 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 160 yards and three TDs. Killough's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 103 rushing yards. Sealy's leading receiver AJ Cepon was Killough's top target yet again, picking up 60 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Columbia's record is now 8-3. As for Sealy, their record now sits at 10-1.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Thoe and Killough. Thoe just won't slow down this season and has thrown 21 touchdowns while averaging 151.1 passing yards per game. Killough has been a dominant force too and has thrown 13 touchdowns while averaging 148.1 passing yards per game.
Columbia was able to grind out a solid win over Sealy in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, winning 24-15. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Tigers' Noah Washington, who picked up 60 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 59 yards. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Roughnecks to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
