After a string of nine wins, the Heights Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 56-31 defeat at the hands of Dawson. While losing is never fun, Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 601st, while Dawson is ranked 76th).
Jazmyne Gilbert was Heights' leading scorer, having posted 14 points.
Mira Johnson held things down on the boards with five rebounds. Johnson took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Dawson, they have yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 15-2 record.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heights will take on Bellaire at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bellaire focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Saturday. As for Dawson, they will be playing at home against Dickinson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Dickinson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
