The West Orange Warriors came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 47-30 victory over Apopka. Given West Orange's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Apopka is ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Orange's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Satterfield, who scored eight points along with five assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Calvez, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
West Orange is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Apopka, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Orange won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Winter Haven at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Winter Haven is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Apopka, they will head out on the road to face off against Lake Mary at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
