The Elwood Panthers fell victim to the Eastern Comets''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 55-0 loss at the hands of the Comets. Elwood's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it five in a row.
Eastern got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Eagle out in front who rushed for 232 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 14.5 yards per carry. Eagle is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Word, who picked up 164 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Elwood's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 0.0 points per game. As for Eastern, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Elwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Eastern will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tipton at 7:00 p.m.
