Iowa City is 2-8 against Liberty since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Iowa City Little Hawks on the road again and play against the Liberty Lightning at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Iowa City suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Cedar Falls, falling 69-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Iowa City has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Liberty's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 75-56 to Linn-Mar. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Liberty in their matchups with Linn-Mar: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Liberty got a solid performance out of Cooper Webb, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Trey Hughes, who scored 13 points.
Iowa City's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-10. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Iowa City came up short against Liberty in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 57-48. Can Iowa City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
