5A Region 4 recap September 4, 2013
American Fork was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Mountain Crest. The Cavemen came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Westlake took down Ogden 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gavin Williams threw for 149 yards and ran for 26 yards in the win.
Pleasant Grove's dynamic duo of Jeremiah Evans and Spencer Romney proved to be unstoppable against Timpview, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Evans threw for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns and Romney had 100 yards receiving. Caleb Veenker helped Pleasant Grove's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 27 yards.
The Vikings' dynamic duo of Evans and Romney proved tough for the Thunderbirds to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He went 10-20 with 2 interceptions.
Kurtis Anderson was a key player and the best on defense this week as American Fork bested the Mustangs. The 6-foot-3 senior.
Romney was the best receiver in 5A Region 4 this week as Pleasant Grove beat Timpview.
Evans put up the best numbers through the air as Les Hamilton's team defeated Cary Whittingham's team.
Caden Calton was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 136 yards on 18 carries as Lehi topped the Thunderbirds. Teammate Derek Hastings added to the ground attack by rushing for 70 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Jacen Condie of Aaron Behm's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 607. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Romney. The Pleasant Grove star has 7 catches for 337 yards.
Pleasant Grove and Timpview played the most contested game in the league this week, with Pleasant Grove eventually emerging with a 21-19 victory. Evans during the win.
