Gunn is 0-3 against Los Gatos since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. Gunn will head out on the road to challenge Los Gatos at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Gunn fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Milpitas on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 14-10 to the Trojans. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Anna Brown stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored a run while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Novick, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
Even though they lost, Gunn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Los Gatos waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Ava Norquist made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Sickels, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Lily Young, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Gunn's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Los Gatos, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Gunn has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Los Gatos struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gunn couldn't quite get it done against Los Gatos when the teams last played back in June of 2021 as they fell 8-4. Can Gunn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
