Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Danville). Everything went their way against the Milton Black Panthers on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-1 win. Considering the Ironmen have won eight matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Garrett Hoffman made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Hoffman was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Wyatt Shultz was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Casey Mills was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Danville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory was the third in a row for Danville, bringing their record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Milton, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
