2A District 8 recap November 5, 2013
Commerce extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 8 this week by beating Colcord, 35-28. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Salina led the league in scoring this week after putting up 59 points on Quapaw.
Wyandotte's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Gunner Hudson threw for 70 yards and Clayton Stone had 48 yards receiving. On the ground Ryan Garrett contributed 201 yards. Garrett helped Wyandotte's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 22 yards.
The Bears' dynamic duo of Hudson and Stone proved tough for Ketchum to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Garrett helped Wyandotte's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 22 yards.
Garrett provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Wyandotte defeated the Warriors.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Kansas's Logan Blaine and Tracy Pruitt have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-8 quarterback Blaine has thrown for 808 yards this season, while Pruitt has 14 catches for 367 yards. DC Chance from Commerce leads the league in rushing with 1,867 yards.
Brad Homer's team's Stone is a mere 97 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 84 carries Stone has put up 903 yards this year.
At the moment, the Wildcats are in second, while the Comets are in third.
Colcord made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,369 from 7,497. The improvement was the result of a 35-28 victory over the Hornets last week.
