Eunice and Jal are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2024, but likely not for long. The Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eunice has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Eunice fell victim to Loving and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 15-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Meanwhile, Jal waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Dragons 10-2. Considering the Panthers have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Johnna Butts made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off nine hits (and only one walk). Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Abigal Dardon and Mayrin Nieto did most of the damage at the plate: Dardon got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Nieto went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. What's more, Dardon posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last ten matchups. Zoe Molina was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Eunice has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Jal, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Eunice has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jal struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Eunice might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Jal when the teams last played on Tuesday. Will the Cardinals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
