The Uintah Utes will head out on the road to take on the Payson Lions at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Uintah didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Timpanogos, but they still walked away with a 40-35 win.
Uintah's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Mackenzie White, who scored 17 points along with two steals, and Charlee Gilroy, who scored four points along with five assists and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which White has scored at least a third of Uintah's points. Zoey Glenn was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Payson waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They blew past Mountain View, posting a 62-24 victory on the road.
Payson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cheznie Roundy, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Roundy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyah Bahr, who scored ten points along with seven assists and four steals.
Uintah's victory bumped their record up to 6-15. As for Payson, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7.
Uintah was dealt a bruising 60-32 defeat at the hands of Payson when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Payson's Oaklie Jackman, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.
