Wayne County had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 5-11 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Enterprise Bulldogs 4-2. This was a revenge game for the War Eagles: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in February, they had to take a 13-12 loss.

Brianna Hudson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gracie Swindle, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Calia Powe was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Wayne County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
As for Enterprise, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-10. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the five contests prior), but Wayne County's pitcher proved too tough.
On Enterprise's side, Braylee Bergin got Enterprise off to a strong start despite the final result, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Bergin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Makaylee Nause made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.
Wayne County has already played their next matchup, a 7-6 victory against Vancleave on the 31st. As for Enterprise, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-5 win against Clarkdale on the 31st.
