It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but The New Prairie Cougars ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Kankakee Valley by a score of 28-21. The win was nothing new for New Prairie as they're now sitting on three straight.
Leading New Prairie to victory were Reed Robinson and Marshall Kmiecik. Robinson rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, while Kmiecik rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
New Prairie's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Kankakee Valley's QB won't forget Harrison Groves anytime soon given Groves sacked him six times.
Despite the loss, Kankakee Valley still got an impressive performance from Marco Castro, who rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Castro hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games.
New Prairie's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.5 points per game. As for Kankakee Valley, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
New Prairie will head out on the road to face off against Culver Academies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Culver Academies will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. Kankakee Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
