Lexington has been on the road for six straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Flanagan-Cornell Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Lexington had to settle for a 57-54 loss against the Chiefs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lexington came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Chiefs are ranked 557th).
Defeat or not, Lexington got some senior leadership from Ethan Storm and Griffen Hari. Storm scored 20 points along with three steals, while Hari. scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Storm is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Olson, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Flanagan-Cornell came up short against the Vikings on Wednesday and fell 53-46. Flanagan-Cornell has struggled against the Vikings recently, as their match on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Lexington has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-7 record this season. As for Flanagan-Cornell, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-10.
Everything came up roses for Lexington against the Falcons in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 61-25 victory. Does Lexington have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
