The Chatham Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the North Rockland Raiders at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Chatham's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so North Rockland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Things were looking good for Chatham after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Ichabod Crane by a score of 8-7. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Riders: they've now lost three in a row.

Logan Smalley was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Jacob Carroll made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Owen Wilber was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, North Rockland has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.75 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They fell just short of Arlington by a score of 11-10. The Raiders' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
North Rockland also got a good showing from Ezekiel Ferreira, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Jaden Vasquez and Jaden Quezada did some serious damage despite the final result: Vasquez got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Quezada got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Chris Ariola, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Having lost for the first time this season, Chatham fell to 4-1. As for North Rockland, their record is now 6-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chatham has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like North Rockland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
