The Hillsboro Hiltoppers will square off against the Gillespie Miners at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillsboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Hillsboro took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Litchfield a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Hiltoppers have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Anika Camp, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Litchfield off the board. Camp has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Briley Kirby was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Peyton Chappelear was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Gillespie came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Purple Panthers.
Paxton Reid spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Laci Schuckenbrock, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ava Parish, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Gillespie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Litchfield only posted a batting average of .233.
Hillsboro's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Gillespie, their victory bumped their record up to 19-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Hillsboro hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Gillespie struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
