The Edinburgh Lancers are taking a road trip to challenge the Southwestern Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edinburgh has six straight victories, Southwestern has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Edinburgh had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Greenwood Christian Academy on Monday. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Chole Hancock made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenna Streeval, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Halliey Kinser also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Edinburgh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Southwestern couldn't beat Christian Academy on Monday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fourth inning. The Rebels fell 10-7 to the Warriors.
Rorie Scroggins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Myah Hofelich was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Edinburgh's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Southwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Edinburgh hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Southwestern struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
