For the first time this season, South Point will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chesapeake Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. South Point is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
South Point barely beat Piketon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pointers blew past the Redstreaks 9-1 on Wednesday.
Kota Copley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Saratina Jackson and Josie Kidd did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Kidd went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Jackson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adyson Copley, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: South Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, while it was Chesapeake who put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, it was Portsmouth who put up more. The Panthers came up short against the Trojans, falling 17-5. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jaeden Anderson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaydence Easthom, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Chesapeake's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for South Point, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Chesapeake's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. South Point has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Chesapeake, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will South Point keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
