There's no place like home for the Monroe Golden Tornadoes, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Westover 58-38. Given Monroe's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Westover is ranked 244th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Jaquan Maddox, who scored 10 points along with 8 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Justin Burns, who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Traveion Wheeler, who scored 7 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Reese, who scored 7 points.
Monroe now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Westover, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe will be home for the holidays to greet Bainbridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westover will take on Tift County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
