Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Morristown

Morristown waltzed into their match on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Indianapolis Scecina Memorial Crusaders 63-39. The Yellow Jackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 24 points or more this season.

Morristown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Danika Rutledge led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Cox, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 18 points and six steals.

Morristown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Indianapolis Scecina Memorial's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ainsley Brown, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds. Brown's afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaila Leath, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Morristown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points per game. As for Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, they moved to 6-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morristown will face off against Triton Central at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Morristown knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Triton Central likes a good challenge. As for Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, they will take on Herron at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
