The Brophy College Prep Broncos will head out to challenge the Liberty Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 859 yards in their previous games.
Brophy College Prep is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Higley, who was ranked 11th at the time (Brophy College Prep was ranked eighth). The Broncos fell just short of the Knights by a score of 41-38 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Broncos have suffered since October 4, 2024.

Defeat or not, Brophy College Prep got some senior leadership from Case Vanden Bosch and Daylen Sharper. Vanden Bosch rushed for 72 yards and three touchdowns, while Sharper picked up 201 receiving yards and a pair of scores. With that strong performance, Sharper is now averaging an impressive 108.3 receiving yards per game.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 3.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least nine total tackles, John Michael stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss). Brophy College Prep's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.8.
Meanwhile, Liberty waltzed into their game last Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They took down the Coyotes 30-14.
Liberty's win came from a few key players Brophy College Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brayden Stevens, who threw for 203 yards and one TD. A healthy portion of that aerial production (83 yards to be exact) went to Carter Rothe.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Liberty's defense and their five sacks. TJ Foilefutu refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Liberty's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Brophy College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Brophy College Prep has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 166.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 200.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Brophy College Prep was taken down by Liberty 48-10 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for the Broncos, Navi Bruzon (who threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 63 yards and one score on only five carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
