The Kennedy Knights had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Clifton as Kennedy made off with a 54-30 victory. Given Kennedy's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Clifton is ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kennedy to victory, but perhaps none more so than My'Shayla Clancy, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Clancy has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Zahniya Castillo was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Kennedy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Clifton, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.
Kennedy will head out on the road to face off against Eastside at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kennedy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Clifton, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Cliffside Park at 10:00 a.m. on February 10th.
